What’s the difference? Mobile Marketing VS Mobile Marketing

Let’s play a game! What’s the difference between Mobile Marketing and Mobile Marketing? Hmmmmm…. waiting…… Okay, give up? There are SO MANY differences, I don’t blame you for being confused!

Since Mobile Marketing is taking way in such a rapid pace, many businesses are getting left behind by the “early adopters” who are shifting and evolving their Marketing Plans. Mobile Marketing is the way to go in 2013 and 2014, because everyone, and I do mean everyone, has a mobile device and will access the Internet through a data connection in some fashion over time. Those who do not have a Mobile Marketing Plan better start collecting pennies under Walmart Pop Machines; because even if your budget doesn’t allow for it, it is a must!

Think about it: Mobile Devices have faster connections than our home modem connections, and mobile plans are getting cheaper and cheaper. Some companies offer UNLIMITED data for a small price. Shoot, there are so many Wifi-enabled Smartphones and Devices that can serve even those who have no home connection or paid data plan while out in public! Thank you, McDonalds. Thanks, Starbucks!

Those who previously had no access to an Internet connection or very limited usage now have it… regularly! And, there are even those who have been GIVEN a mobile device via Government Assistance (Obama Phones and Phones for the Elderly). So, no matter what, people are getting Online and they are taking advantage… with or without a paid mobile data plan.

Now, tell me why you haven’t evolved and included Mobile Marketing into your plan, yet?!

Ohhhhh, you don’t understand the difference between Mobile Marketing and Mobile Marketing. You don’t know the first thing about it? Well, let me break this down for you really fast!

Marketing is demonstrating the “need” of a consumer or potential consumer through an impactful Marketing Message. It’s the emotional connection that takes place. Now, if you understand contemporary Marketing trends, you will notice that Internet Marketing is an “Always On” approach to Marketing Efforts.

Conversation is important in getting out a message, but the conversation is one way to make it “personal” without ADVERTISING to the consumer. Let’s face it, the consumer WANTS and NEEDS your brand, we don’t need to force it down their throats until they give in! As a matter of fact, advertising in Internet Marketing is often called “SPAM,” as it is also named in the Mobile Marketing World.

Truthfully, Mobile Marketing is almost the same thing as Internet Marketing. Only, it is more personal. The content size and message length are often smaller and shorter than Internet Marketing Messages for attention span and transfer rate issues. Distribution and delivery are important factors in Mobile Marketing, as well. These things are to be considered in creating a Mobile Marketing Action Plan (MMAP).

In Mobile Marketing, most messages and deliverables are able to be monetized. This is awesome! A lot of Cross Promotions between brands also take place. Additionally, a lot of the downloadable content, while it can be shared, is often times not. And yet, links, photos and video codes are shared at an extensive rate!

This means that more measurables are able to be analyzed for true numbers. We can also tell demographical information much more efficiently, because “mobile means personal.” So, we learn the psychology behind our consumers and who to thank for our success! This will lead to more personalization, customized marketing plans and Brand Loyalty.

Through Mobile Content Delivery in using it as a means for Marketing and even Revenue-generating Marketing, our products are always with our consumers. When speaking with friends, family, and associates, they have a point of reference, to explain what they are talking about (when talking about our brand) with visuals and audio. Because they will show this content on their mobile device, they will quickly take their device back, leaving the other person curious.

Electronics are valuable and many are worried that their property will be broken or that someone will intercept a “private message” without their consent! So, taking too much time consuming a product on someone else’s device will lead to the phone to be taken away. Additionally, the average person doesn’t carry around transfer cords in their back pocket to share files. These elements will force the new potential consumer to download or purchase these items on their own. In a way, this is Physical Viral Marketing and Word of Mouth Marketing wrapped into one!

Additionally, the average person doesn’t carry around transfer cords in their back pocket to share files. These elements will force the new potential consumer to download or purchase these items on their own. In a way, this is Physical Viral Marketing and Word of Mouth Marketing wrapped into one!

A really cool thing about Mobile Marketing is that if you have subscribed to a company (or if you are that company), it is easy to unsubscribe. Subscribing to a company is usually done through and in order to receive SMS or Push Notifications which offer the consumer “to-the-minute announcements and updates,” exclusive content, giveaways, contests, coupons, and much more!

These are easily customized and very personalized based on locale, interests, personal data, activity history, etc. Unsubscribe features are important and required by law in abiding by FCC Regulations and the CAN-SPAM Act, which require “opt-in” and “opt-out” features to be provided to consumer rights protection and mobile charges. Most Mobile Marketing platforms, such as Trumpia, MadMimi, ReverbNation and Remark-a-Mobile have set up an automatic process to allow for this.

Being directly connected to your audience is a priority in Mobile Marketing. It’s the second half of Mobile Marketing and the end goal if a Mobile Marketing Plan is set in stone. However, it is also a separate style of Mobile Marketing that could just be the ongoing and “Always Connected” communication to an already established consumer base.

This marketing allows you to be connected to them through personalized messaging. However, you are more than likely not retrieving any new customers unless Marketing takes place elsewhere.

This can be done through short codes (such as texting “BRANDSOCIAL” to 69302) or through QR Codes (Quick Response) that can be scanned and saved directly to smartphones. A QR Code should be programmed and optimized for a “Call-to-Action.” This means of Mobile Marketing is more clerical, in my opinion, than the “nitty gritty, roll up your sleeves” Mobile Marketing one should outsource for. It is setup to give priority to a consumer base already analyzed and for conversion estimations to take form at “bare minimum.”

The more scientific form of Mobile Marketing, as stated earlier in this article, is equivalent to Internet Marketing on a Mobile Platform. It is the delivery of content to potential consumers, as well as established consumers, and the optimization of such. It is the copy, the cross-promotion, the advertisements (directed to specific TARGET individuals), the microblogs, and all around Mobile Marketing Message!

Both means of “Mobile Marketing” are, in fact, important. And, it is very important to give BOTH venues FULL ATTENTION and PRIORITY. Analysis and budgeting are very important in the success of these weapons, but so is personalization.

Personalization and familiarity are the MOST IMPORTANT tools in Mobile Marketing Success. Frequency attention of messaging is very important, as well. You don’t want consumer to feel “spammed.” The magic touch comes with the loyalty factor, stick with the Laws of Branding, and everything should be just fine!

Let’s Talk Quality: YOU are responsible for YOUR name!

You know, there is a law that you should ALWAYS be responsible to uphold. As a Marketer, there will always be projects that come your way. Many of those projects will be more lucrative than others. But, what will you do with those offers? Do you accept them or not?

As a Marketing Expert, it is your responsibility to act responsibly for your brand. As you recall from previous articles, your company and clients aren’t the only brands you should be worried about.

YOU are a brand. As a matter of fact, YOU ARE what they call BrandYOU.

In accepting gigs, please pay attention to the “Law of Quality.” This doesn’t mean that the product has to be quality. But, the morale behind it should also be quality.

Who and what is this product benefiting and why? Does it relate to your branding structure? For example, you work on mostly Non Profit projects and projects for churches and religious groups. But, you have a very lucrative “adult” project thrown in your direction. Do you take it?

You have to understand that any project you work on will affect your name, as your brand is your name and is attached to all that you work on. Your client base, and even competitors, will become responsive to your releases and contributions.

Word often spreads. Will your accepted projects take from the brand you have created? If you are a “Sports Marketer,” but do projects for a cosmetic company, you can never be called THE (with an emphasis on the “e”) Sports Marketer, because now you show no specific niche. Who is your specific target market?

While it is important to act responsibly for your brand’s sake, this does NOT mean to turn down gigs as they come to you. This actually means the opposite.

Why not build a portfolio in another niche? Wait? Did I just say that? How can you build a portfolio in another niche without confusing your expertise amongst audiences?

Easily! Check this out:

  • 1. Choose an Alias/Penname and establish a “Doing Business As” Business Entity through your local government.
  • 2. *Optional* get an EIN and bank account related to that name — unless you are okay with your current being used.
  • 3. Alternatively, sign Non Disclosures with the firm/client seeking business with you to mask business between entities.
  • 4. Accept the business and do it as a “side project” keeping your name off of it.
  • 5. Choose to work at a higher rate and give credit to the person hiring you.
  • 6. Network with others in your industry. Collect a “finder’s fee” and hand off clients. Most will return the favor!

It’s as simple as that! Keep your brand’s best interest at mind and the archetype specific. Don’t be a “jack of all trades, master of none!” Good luck!

A Marketer’s Nightmare: Content Block

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

You’re in between projects. Now is the time to beef up your own Social Presences. You are so used to putting your own projects to the side while working on client material…most of which are your own ideas. But, when it comes to your own presence, your own content, your own projects… NOTHING.

You try, you try, you try and still — you come up with nothing. Content block!

It’s a Marketer’s Nightmare, and we all surely go through it! It’s like you work on these amazing projects for others. Many of which, we can’t show anyone due to Non-Disclosure Agreements, and we feel the need to go above and beyond THAT when it comes to our own projects. We become so caught up in it, perfectionists even, that we either never finish or we struggle, trying to create the next masterpiece. There is hope!

Try these simple but POWERFUL steps in jogging the mind into the proper direction. If you’re like me, you hate idle time that will never come back. Use these activities to benefit your Social Presence and help find direction and an insight to what your audience is even “in the mood” for.

Afterall, we MARKET not ADVERTISE… Let’s make them REALIZE the NEED not TRICK them into WANTING something useless.

In taking part in an activity or two, your mind should be clear. You should have some fresh content that you can use on your own projects or that of future clients. Your content delivery being noticed by audiences has benefited your brand. SEO, through your content, has enhanced your efforts, and you now have new ideas to work with to ensure the evolution of a successful and healthy brand! In whatever you do, good luck doing it!

1. Brainstorm Session

A good ol’ brainstorm session! Write down ideas, search your mind. Get a team and make it all the better! What you don’t use now, you can use later. Make sure you type up all ideas and elaborate upon the ones you select. These ideas will help you with a plethora of future events. Cherish this moment and have much fun! Never let your ideas intimidate you! No idea is too big. And, nothing is impossible!

2. Memes

We have all seen them on Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. They grab the attention of audiences through advice, tips, tricks, ideas, jokes, inspirations, etc. Why not create a few of your own? Grab hold of new audiences and gain new likes and boosts in SEO capabilities for your related presence. Due to shares, your direct page should be shared by onlookers everywhere. Have those Memes marked with your web address, as well, and gain the attention of curious minds immediately!

3. Fun with Trends

This is one of my favorite things to do! I love getting involved in conversation and seeing how many “retweets,” “favorites” and replies I get from it! More importantly, I love the followers who begin asking questions about my company and the ROI from it. No investment other than time, but traffic, backlinks, referrals and BUSINESS in return!

And, I mean, how hard is it? Creating jokes and interesting statements based upon trends and relating it to your business? This is definitely a worthwhile “brainwarmer” and stress reliever to get you in mode for some heavy duty business…

4. Self-Education on Unrelated Topics

Have you ever caught yourself working on a project and stuck on what would make that brand unique? Sometimes, a theme and an in-depth knowledge of a theme gives us an awesome outcome, especially if it is related to a specific archetype!

As an Internet Marketer, you probably have been a Consultant for many clients and are always the one doing the teaching. Why don’t you sit back and let someone else teach you? Watch Youtube videos, read conspiracy reports, learn something weird, check out the news! These things may just jog some ideas that will get you back on track …and benefit future client projects, as well!

Don’t forget to write down your ideas and get others captivated in your findings. Show them that you are not just a business, but your brand is a persona and you are human with real-life interests. You may just find niche markets and leaders that can pave the way to new approaches and ways of doing things.

5. Network and Get Out!

Networking and enjoying an adventure or two will lead you into so many new directions and develop your mind to understand public interests, as the World is always changing. You experience new things. You can meet new people that will spark new interests for you. New ideas can generate through collaboration. Doors can be opened for new possibilities and in taking barriers from your life. What is even better, you can enjoy yourself.

You get to de-stress. You can free your mind and clear it to start from scratch. Did you ever think that maybe these “blockage” periods force us into just laying around, watching TV and ultimately clearing our minds without a second thought? Because once your client puts that need in your face, ideas are pumping through your veins! So, get out! Conversate. Have fun!

6. Landing Pages

Truly who likes creating Landing Pages? But, guess what?! They are the keys to our success. They are also ways we can do things a little different with our brand, especially if linking into a corporate site. So, why not have fun with it?

You want to build something new, exciting, maybe innovative as well, right? Then, go ahead… design away! And, make it useful. The impact of each campaign depends on it.

7. New Ways to Monetize

We are constantly finding new ways to monetize when we are working with clientele, whether it is through products and services that we create or through research in finding ways to promote their products. There are so many ways to monetize items through free distribution that it is almost ridiculous!

People want free. If you give them free, they will find it worthwhile to take a peek!

This is one way to convert a consumer into a customer and be paid for it. How are we paid for it? The answer isn’t always easy, but a few ways to do it are through sponsors, advertisements, cross-promotions, etc.

Do some research, find some new methods of monetization that haven’t been touched yet. Implement your findings into your own brand. Make money… and give me some of it!

8. Spy on Competition and Fortune 500 Companies

I don’t mean to literally spy, although if you’re bold enough… How I mean to spy is to look into the Web, Social and Referral Presences of your competition. Look at their Marketing, their Design, their SEO. What can you do better than they can? What are they doing better? Can you implement it and fine-tune it to fulfill your brand’s needs in advancing in the marketplace?

9. Get Inspired

Read articles. Read books. Heck, read Memes! Go outside and smell the fresh air, taste a new cuisine. Whatever you do, embrace it. Find inspiration.

Keep your mind pumping and ideas sprouting in your mind.

Each and everything you experience, you must learn to make it your own. How can you incorporate enjoyable details into your brand in creating fresh content?

10. Backlinks and Other SEO

You have time. You can’t think of anything fresh. Anything you may create through forced creativity may end up very unaesthetic and unappealing to the eye. It may seem rushed if it is a text deliverable.

So, go ahead. Go to work. Create backlinks.

Point people in the direction of your brand’s presence and web site. You have nothing to lose! Maybe you will see something on your mission that allows you new insight!

11. Research New Tools and Trends
11. Research New Tools and Trends Shorty Produkshins, 2013.

11. Research New Tools and Trends

All that you have to do is to research new tools and trends for your Industry or niche….. This is pretty much self-explanatory

…AND NOW, ONTO THE NEXT!

12. Ask an “Elder (not necessarily in the same industry)”

Ask a Veteran in the World of Marketing or the Business World, in general, what they have done and have accomplished in their career. Ask how they did it. Learn from them. Bounce ideas off of them. Speak to them on the topics of life and people. Then talk to your elders.

These people may not even be in-tune with the World of Business. But, ask them about their likes and dislikes. Ask them things that attracted their attention to brands over the years and converted them into customers. Ask their favorite brands, why they like the brands and how they were attracted to them. This is a bonding time.

Allow an elder to shine through you. They know what they are talking about. They give a perspective that not many consider valuable. It might not be a “fresh” outlook, but it isn’t an every-day-run-of-the-mill practice, either! They might even have some ideas, but they feel they need a “fresher” face to produce it for them. You never know until you ASK!

13. Doodle

Ever been on the phone or in a class and led to doodle random thoughts, phrases and imagery? Try it now that you are older and have a brand to grow!

Call someone that you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Catch up!

Enjoy yourself, and let yourself become clear-minded and reconnect with an old friend or family member at the same time. At the end of that phone call, look at your notepad. Your subconscious mind just told you what your next project was going to be about. It’s all about you to decipher it!

14. Engage in Conversation

Make your Social Presence personal! Conversate with your audience. Find out their likes and dislikes, wants, needs, thoughts. Get them involved in the brand’s future. Keep them talking to and about your brand. As interesting as this is, I actually get more business through my “personal” pages than my business pages. The trick is to be personal without being too personal at all! Show life and that you are human!

Create chemistry It’s all about relationships, so build! Bring that empire to life. And, allow those who support you make history at your side!

15. Speak to your Camera

We can never find time to make these Vlogs (Video Blogs) that everyone would rather watch than read information on. To boot, we aren’t always in our best shape. Let’s take advantage of this time.

Go in your closet, pull out some nice clothes. Get dressed and “made” up. Sit down at your computer, and hit record!

Speak about your journey, your successes, tips and tricks, ventures, clients, projects, ANYTHING. Inform your audience, entertain them… show them the face behind the brand… behind the movement! Then, use these videos to keep audiences captivated and interested in what your brand has to offer them!

16. Fun with Photos

As Marketers who write, create mood boards, need backgrounds, create content, need to get our point across, we always need photos… the more unique, the better. The less we have to pay for royalties, the better.

So, let’s get on a jacket, grab a book bag, fill it with goodies and a camera with extra batteries… and start shooting!

Take pictures of every and anything. Keep in mind your audiences, and try to create content that will be shared or liked! Don’t forget to take pictures of architecture, events and people. Memories are everything. Nostalgia is in demand. And people… they love looking at themselves. So, click away and tag them later!

Don’t forget to take pictures of architecture, events and people. Memories are everything. Nostalgia is in demand. And people… they love looking at themselves. So, click away and tag them later!

17. Mood “Boreds”

I know, it’s “mood board,” but you can do this if you are bored! Go out! Collect actual fabrics, textures, objects, colors. Cut out newspaper and magazine clippings. Get out your crayons, pastels, watercolors and do some exploration. Come up with a Rebranding Strategy, a Campaign, a Facelift, or some cool ideas for future projects!

Mood Boards are fun. They unlock the inner youth… our innocence… our imaginations. Open your mind, and unblock that brain!

18. Start a “Spin-Off”

You have found many new ways to capitalize from and monetize your content. You have found something in common. Is it time for a “Spin-Off” brand? How does it help your current brand?

Link Wheels are now generating spokes that will now build their own Link Pyramids under them! You can create backlinks to each other, cross-promote each other amongst audiences, draw together totally different audiences and recycle cool content!

Maximize your potential through this chance to start a spin-off. After all, wasn’t it your dream, growing up, to in some way take over the World? Why not start now to build your empire? The content created will link two-ways, or three, or four, in generating ongoing interest, positive SEO efforts, and give more content to each brand!

19. Write About Your Experiences and Knowledge

Whether creating a website, blog, resume, autobiography for use on various platforms or even writing for an Online periodical, make sure you are recording your experiences. You can always create content. But, who is recording your footprint upon the earth for your legacy and future generations?

On another note, it builds your expertise in the eyes of audiences. It shows you know what you are talking about. It gives you credibility. Who is selling you to new and future clientele?

Recommendations are everything, especially if a finger can be pointed on a point of interest… especially if you are a marketer who does a lot of work under Non-Disclosure. If you have already done so, go back and read it. Pay attention to your growth and create new goals for the future!

20. Fine-tune and Enhance Current Content

What better time than now to go back and enhance, reorganize and fine-tune your current content database? Make your content work for you. Analyze each piece and find out what works and doesn’t work for it. Shoot, you might just find a better way to do your current daily practice amongst your own presence and that of clientele?

Now Trending: #iDontLikeWhen. Thanks, Twitter! I am now free to rant as a Marketing Professional and Columnist! Shoot, I may even spark up a little controversy! This sounds fun!

If you have been involved with Marketing or any related industry, I’m sure you have heard this line before.“Oh, my cousin can do my Facebook for me…” They go on to say how easy it is to do, but are disappointed at the results and let it ruin their outlook on Marketing overall!

One of the greatest pet peeves that many Internet Marketers face is amongst the people we target for business.

As the greatest common denominator amongst us, we frequently see people doing their own marketing (or having a cousin do it) and doing it very wrong. Their messaging is off, their demographics aren’t set, their frequency is either too often or not enough… and they aren’t really marketing at all.

Too many people try to be “Jack of All Trades,” but then they really become the “Master of None.” We need you to focus on the service or product so that we can sell it, consume it, and then brag about this great product we have just consumed! And, honestly, would you let your “Cousin Jack” be your lawyer if your life depended on it? So, why would you leave your brand at risk?

An Internet Marketing Plan is so very important to your brand’s overall well being. If you insist on doing your own marketing, at least hire a professional to map out your course of action. Because, the next thing I’m about to say can and most likely will happen…

PET PEEVE #2 of almost every marketing expert in the World!

The second greatest pet peeve of Internet Marketing professionals is this: “I have done marketing for my product, done the Social Media thing, I used SEO on my page, and it isn’t effective and worth my time or money.” There are so many things wrong with that statement alone. But, this is a common statement. They try to show they have a know-how of what they are doing. But, really they don’t. They only have an idea, based on what they have seen in white sheets and Facebook posts by actual firms.

You see, so many people engage in marketing that was either done wrong, they received no returns, or did it so wrong it and hurt their brand. Without knowing how to create, distribute and market that content to benefit you, engage in social conversation that generates interest in your brand, and other important elements related to Brand Awareness with conversions, you just won’t convert! You also need to act as a Brand Ambassador and deflect negativity from your brand’s reputation, research competitors, analyze gathered information on your brand and its competitors, and redefine your plan of action as you go!

“WOW! THIS is only the beginning!”

#ToBeHonest, there are too many people doing too many similar things these days. You can’t just go in blindly! No one is immune. I hate to say it, but even the Internet Marketing industry is saturated. Then again, how many of those are truly marketers and how many of those only claim this title, because they do a little bit here and there for their family and friends?

Last but MOST CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, “Cheapskate Louie…” Pet Peeve #3 is he!

Because there is so much competition, this fact is held over our heads quite frequently. “Louie” is the man who doesn’t know ANYTHING about technology or others (or he is just a seasoned con artist), and he has an incredibly huge ego! Instead of researching those who he is interested in doing business with, he would rather harass them on their credentials and degrade them in thinking that he will get a discount.

Many times these professionals have worked on high profile campaigns. And once enough is enough, the professional will decline business from Louie, who more than likely has tried to encourage unethical business, the “con of FREE work” and things like this.

Louie, furious, will then try to soil the reputation of the professional who has done everything right …and maybe even a little free work for him… simply because he didn’t get his way!

Luckily for the professionals, his attempts won’t even leave a dent into their master plan, because these types of clientele are avoided! Sourface Louie is now left all by his lonesome self.

While only three pet peeves are given, I was enticed by the trend on Twitter to create this “Marketers Rant.” Fellow Marketers, you are not alone. Be inspired by these events to come with a better pitch in selling your service to those who will truly benefit.

And, listen, this message is to EVERYONE in EVERY industry: NEVER let someone take advantage of your or your business.

In fact, the more boundaries you set up, the more professional you show that you are. They are more than likely to do business with you than if you do tons of free work that detracts from your own bill payments, house payments and diet. They can trust you won’t let anyone push you around when it comes to their product.

People will always try to take advantage. People will always have excuses. People will always have misunderstandings. If things aren’t working well for you, just change your approach. People will listen when you make them want to. But, explaining without an open ear is just a waste of your own time and will discourage you from your true talent. #IDontLikeWhen this happens. And you might not like it, either. But, this is part of business and part of everyday life!

Search Engine Optimization… The Neverending Story.

Shorty Produkshins IS Internet Marketing Orlando | Jessica N. Abraham

PREVIOUS PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

Search Engine Optimization is an ongoing effort… Point. Blank. Period. There are some experts out there speaking false information into the Business World on how it “doesn’t matter how high you rank in Google” and other search engines, most of your focus should be on actual marketing itself.

Are they serious?!

Those who know Internet Marketing like the back of their own hand know that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is one of the most important elements of marketing. As a matter of fact, it is the reason that other forms of marketing even exist and continue to strive!

Who says appearing on the first few pages, and especially the first few results, of a Search Engine do not help a brand perform at its maximum potential? Who says it doesn’t help a brand find awareness, especially when local area search takes place? If SEO isn’t done properly, all Social Branding and Media Marketing efforts can pretty much find themselves flushed down the toilet!

SEO is not just naming a few keywords or tagging a few items. It’s more than just descriptions and backlinks. In today’s day and age, related search results are almost a standard, photo matches for similar results are sure to return and content is King! Not only is it King, but it is more valuable than any keyword you place on your page! And, naming it correctly is even more important. Using generic names for photos and audio will just hinder efforts.

In today’s World of Search, more and more businesses and brand are finding themselves working with individuals and firms that have mastered Search Engine Optimization as a skill and/or Internet Marketing as a whole. So if everyone is doing it right, how exactly does your brand stand out in the crowd?

It is true, most people are learning that if they aren’t doing it right, they might as well “close up shop” in E-commerce and other related industries, because they won’t make sales. So, they put in a few marketing dollars and integrate SEO into their efforts. The problem is, they don’t realize that SEO is an ongoing effort — a never-ending story!

Most people are simply hiring professionals or doing it themselves to get the job only half done. They hire someone to optimize their site, or they create “Meta Tags” and call it quits! The goal of SEO is to stay on top amongst competitors, affiliates and even those in the same industry as yourself, who may not even be a competitor!

So, we name and detail Meta Tags. We include optimized copy for the page. We name all content and create “Alt Tags.” We backlink and create internal links, amongst every other element of SEO (and there are many).

The thing is this: No matter how much optimization we do for a site, it is NEVER enough! It is also to be noted that when you hire someone to optimize your site, this is different from hiring someone to handle all of your SEO across platforms.

The difference is plain and simple. Newer sites and newer optimization by competitors will begin to be tracked. Algorithms are programmed to realize some content will become outdated. Such is the case with news stories. There will always be a new shooting and the one that just took place will become old news, no matter how often that story is searched out.

So, how do we combat this? Again… ONGOING SEO!

Refreshing and updating pages, adding to and making changes, etc. Our websites aren’t the only thing that needs continuous updating, so do our Social Media outlets and social networks in which are attached to our sites.

Why? Link Wheels and Pyramids end up pinging our sites and connecting the content indirectly.

Every click is a vote, every impression is a bump up! The more content, the better. The more relevant the content, much better. The more linking and embedding of content… even better! And one must do this on a monthly, weekly and even daily basis, or they should plan on falling behind.

There are arguments that Organic Search results, traffic sent to your page based upon the text of your coding, are good enough. Okay, then why are these same people still “wasting” money on SEM (Search Engine Marketing) if they think that Organic Search is enough? Don’t let these people fool you. It is their goal to hold up your efforts so they, themselves, or clients can get ahead. It’s misinformation at its best.

Organic Search is important. But, keeping information and content new and interesting is even more important. After all, repeat traffic yields new traffic through Viral and Word of Mouth means. Those are the two hardest forms of marketing to achieve, because you can’t just make someone want to tell another person about your brand or site. They have to want to do it. And if they are bored or losing interest in what you have to offer, they won’t become excited enough to share it with those who take their opinions seriously.

Because SEO is an ongoing effort and others are slowly catching on, links and content are always changing out. Old ones are even being removed. Who is to say that all of those backlinks you just committed to will even be valid or existent in a few months?

Continuous backlinking is important. After all, it is a means for Brand Awareness. Awareness brings Interest. Interest encourages Influence. Influence equates to Loyalty. And, Loyalty endures Tenure.

For the sake of your brand’s survival, please engage in Ongoing SEO Activity! Be kind to your brand, and it will literally pay you back!

The Power of Viral takes front row in History!

Malcom Shabazz, Malcom X's Grandson

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED TO EXAMINER

Photo taken from GiantMag.com under Fair Use Doctrine.

Yesterday’s loss of the grandson of historical icon and leader, Malcolm X, has already become part of History, Controversy, Conspiracy, and even Viral Conversation throughout the Internet. Malcolm Shabazz, 28, was murdered Thursday, May 9, 2013, in Tijuana, Mexico.

While “no one knows” who killed him or “why,” Shabazz felt it was coming and explained the process of assassination in which no one would care to ask questions. In an Online record that is currently circulating Facebook with a “RIP Malcolm” photo attached, he explained, in his own words, how he was constantly being harassed and forced to keep a distance from loved ones, not disclosing information to them… in addition to a plethora of other interesting details in his life.

Much of these details highlighted media defamation of his character and crimes that he claimed to have been “cornered” into accepting blame for.

Much earlier this month, an audio recorded “open letter” to Pope John Paul II from 1998 began its recirculation in the midst of a new addition to an FBI Most Wanted List. Assata Shakur has been named a terrorist by the United States and marked with a $1 million dollar reward for her capture. The open letter is circulating the Internet, speaking in defense of actions that “set her on the run” and in what seems to be self-defense.

Similar to Shabazz, we are able to get another side of the story and paint a much clearer picture of what happened that led up to the incident.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have Christopher Dorner, who was allegedly burnt alive in a cabin fire atop a California mountain chain. It is to be noted that Dorner personally placed a “manifesto” onto his Facebook page explaining his motives and reasonings of events that were to come in latter days. This manifesto was widely spread on the net, even after his Facebook page had been shut down. This, alongside mass murders, led to a manhunt of suspected “cop killer” who was now on the loose and had a distinct vendetta with an extreme plan of action.

Here, we have three situations in which Social Media has given another side of the story. Generally, once a person becomes a fugitive, is murdered or placed into imprisonment, we hear nothing else about the topic, unless it is false or sensationalized by media outlets who are in search of higher ratings. Social Media has allowed these pieces to go viral and for us to become familiar with another side of the story.

Whether or not these contents are genuine and/or truthful, a deeper look into the situation and a furthered understanding can take place in the face of an audience, who would otherwise scorn an innocent person, rather than understand what went wrong and why. And, such is the case on frequent occasions.

Because of the “Power of Viral,” we have found many lost persons, located dangerous villains, reunited loved ones (even pets), freed hostages, petitioned wrongdoings, petitioned action in situations where many have been given the cold shoulder by corrupt agencies, and many more situations that have brought about a positive change in the lives of the human race. In fact, many continue to hand over the “Power of Attorney” of intellectual property and private information to be posted Online by trusted friends and family in the event that something should happen to them, as is the case of Malcolm Shabazz who had to purposely distance himself from those he cared about most in this world.

Not only has the Power of Viral aided the lives of individuals in trouble, but it has also benefitted causes and Nations in finding hope for the future. In Iran and Israel, an accidental “peace campaign” once took place that united members of each enemy territory with others of the opposing territory. This campaign took place when citizens of Israel posed for “Israel loves Iran” posters, in which were sent to Iran via “social,” as Iran did the same to Israel.

“Everyday people” had posed for these posters and placed them on social networks in “free speech” to the opposition of the political choices to go to war. It was rumored to cause an accidental movement of peace between the nations who have been in direct warfare for over a decade.

On the contrary, viral content has created a means for truth to be spread during cases of all-out warfare, in which “outside” territories claim it to be in total civil war. Those who are living the horror are actually able to report “hands-on” and “breaking” information and enemy locations, such as through GPS, photos and video. These items are also beneficial in convicting war criminals of the heinous acts that they commit.

Syrian Truth and Syrian Democratic Future has “outed” many traitors and terrorists on their Facebook Pages, while distributing graphic content that keeps the World aware of real-life terror taking place daily in Syria, in hopes of creating a positive change within it. They stand for the voice of Syria and in gathering allies around the globe to commit to putting bullies in their place.

While the aim is not to market negative aspects of the real world, the Power of Viral takes the front row in making and recording history in the 21st Century. The goal is to distribute information, whether through Word of Mouth or via search engines. Organic SEO results take place through content distribution and Viral Marketing through shares and views. Information is being spread and people are being made aware of corruption and terror.

Can we use this concept to bring about actual change and peace in the future? Or, will this ability be taken from us in the future due to misinformation by those who will learn to use Viral for their own selfish purposes?

In time, we shall see. For now, let’s make the best of it with open eyes and open minds!

Internet Marketing on an Offline Format — A personal experience.

The Sabir Bey Show App for Android was created by Shorty Produkshins and Jessica N. Abraham. There were over 5000 downloads in the first month!

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

Internet Marketing — OFFLINE. While it makes no sense that one can engage in Internet Marketing while “on the go,” it is entirely possible. Really, how can you market to the World while being away from the office? The answer is, “very easily.”

It has been a while since I have written an article on Internet Marketing. A lot of this has to do with the fact that my company is relocating to another city shortly, and time has been very limited. Nonetheless, work has to be done.

As a work-a-holic, I am consistently striving to find ways to work “on the go.” I am a very sociable person; and interestingly enough, the tagline of my company is “Brand Socially.” So, what I am about to outline works very well for my brand, in particular. Yet In fact, it can work for just about every brand there is. To be bluntly put: “pay attention!”

Every year, I attend The Florida Music Festival in Orlando, FL. This event has gained International recognition over the past 12 years and has highlighted the talents of many of the most popular acts of today.

Internet Marketing has made it become easier for artists, large and small, to become aware of this event (and many like it) and how festivals can contribute to their career successes. The Florida Music Festival was created by Sean Perry and Rick Wheeler of Axis Magazine in 2001 and is supported by many local and International sponsors, as related to the entertainment business and good times.

The Social Branding and Social Media sides of Internet Marketing have aided this and many festivals in capturing quality acts for mass consumption. Content submission by artists via web and the viral power of these submissions have made the selection process for showcasing only the best talent at venues related to their fan bases a much more effective process. And for a marketing professional like myself, I have learned to take advantage of this same process in “scouting out” potential clients in person and by allowing them to find my marketing services on a much later basis.

Understanding what your surroundings will entail and the personality of each target client in an environment, where their adrenaline is rapidly pumping, is very important. To understand these elements, one can turn to social media content that has been dispersed around the net for analysis and review. If you are unfamiliar with the venue and locale you will be attending, “walker” and “biker” maps and area reviews may help bring furthered understanding to rules, staffing, and technological capabilities once there.

News stories and social presences, as well as video content, can bring a furthered understanding of the artist personalities and history that you plan on meeting with. Basically, a lot of research needs to take place beforehand in order to enhance your experience and bring full potential to an OFFLINE Internet Marketing Plan.

Research helps you to understand what you can do and, of course, what you cannot. To begin with, how do you seek to gain the full attention of a potential client at a time where their mind is set on performance, fans and enjoying themselves? What style will you approach them with? How will your elevator pitch relate to them?

As an Internet Marketing Professional, the most important element would be that of “Internet Capability.” Having access to the Internet and Mobile Network features will aid as visuals in what you can bring to the table in aiding their career successes. Because, frankly, if you gain their interests, they will ask you to show them what you can do and only have a few minutes to do it in.

Will you have Wifi or ethernet ports available, and if so — Will there be electric outlets readily available? If not, how well does 4G for your carrier work in that area? Will you be able to “tether” your service into your laptop or portable device of choice? Finally, is your media content optimized for presentation on a mobile device if need be?

In marketing, you have to consider the elements that will bring you closer to your overall goal. In marketing for Online platforms, your driving force will always be content delivery and optimization. There are many ways to achieve this, and where else to gain content for mass distribution than at a festival with many bands, business professionals and “happenings?”

Content will not only raise your SEO efforts for search engines and brand awareness in Social Platforms, but it will also bring traffic to inquire about your servicing via fans and “the stars” themselves. Some of this content may be distributed immediately from the actual venues and encourage participation at the event on an immediate basis, catching the attention of acts being “promoted.” Some of this content will be delivered later. And, some of this content will serve as immediate points of contact and interaction in a tangible way.

The following methods will achieve Internet Marketing on an Offline basis:

  • Check-ins: Lead others to your exact location and leave a print in that area with your content and presence history. This usually is done through Geotagging and GPS, so it is done with ease. Others located in the same area will also be aware of your presence at that moment.

As interest builds, your physical presence benefits by being there to answer questions at the peak of interest in gaining potential clients. What is even better is that people talk. Yes, they sure do!

Quietly, they whisper to the person next to them, “Hey, do you know Jessica Abraham? She owns this company, Shorty Produkshins, and does Internet Marketing… This is what else she does… This is who she has worked with…” Or, they introduce you to the person directly. Here, Word of Mouth and tangible Viral Marketing just gained you a new potential client without much effort!

Some people add free download links and merchandise giveaways to these calls-to-action. This ensures web traffic and content shares. People will often download and listen or “YouTube” and watch these artists before they perform so that they can become more familiar with them. Don’t think that this wouldn’t benefit your brand to do it, as well. I usually give away six free minutes of consultation via telephone when giving away servicing.

  • Web Design/Content: Make sure you have a web design that is mobile-friendly and content that breaks down your servicing within a matter of seconds. People often do not want to read or learn when out and about. But, they do want to be educated on the matter. Using charts, infographics and graphics to explain text-heavy points, understanding is easier acknowledged and quickly associated. Keeping web design at a speed to load rapidly keeps load time at a minimum and interest is less likely to be lost in the process. Make sure your site is catchy, interesting, and informative to a one-minute view. Keep it professional and away from being generic. This is your elevator presentation in grabbing potential clients right away!

There are so many scams out there and “up and coming” brands that never amount to anything worthwhile or are what they say. Meeting Offline brings more personality and realism to your brand. You are a real person. You have a chance to represent the brand in the flesh.

Furthermore, you have met others that these people are already or just becoming acquainted with that can speak for your track record. Introduction by a trusted source or verification of reference is achieved without much effort.

Your brand has an Offline following that will transfer to an Online source via connections and content created in the process. Going Offline to increase Online marketing potential and business connections that will build your “pyramid,” will only lead to furthered tenure for your brand.

Tenure, however, comes from loyalty, while loyalty comes from humbling your brand and practicing ethics that will allow others to justfully trust you. Loyalty comes from the credibility of your brand and what it can do, as well as the reputation of that brand through trusted connections.

The more you communicate Offline, as well as Online, and include others in this practice, the more loyalty you will find amongst followers, colleagues and clientele.

The reason behind this is while you are helping your brand find success, you are taking others along with you… and more than likely it will ONLY BE those that you have faith in yourself! After all, you don’t want to be responsible for distributing garbage content? Your good content will be overlooked and reputation will be brought down if you do that!

  • Storytelling and CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT!: Through this adventure, you are creating a story with several characters — old and new. You are building a history that will last throughout the years and connecting many brands together in unity. The more familiar brands become to audiences, the more trust is built, bringing Brand Loyalty, Awareness, Integrity and Association, of course leading to tenure. Stories will be told through content that, as mentioned before, boosts SEO efforts, viral powers and more! Again, it’s like a family that introduces new friends and family members to others in a more personal way! Storytelling shows that more than business is occurring. It is showing that a relationship is building and lasting, therefore worthwhile for audience recognition, interests and interactions.

The bottom line here is NETWORKING with immediate “connection” is of the utmost importance. Because most people connect to their favorite social networks via mobile device, you must encourage the connection to take place here.

Most social networks actually save contact information into the users’ address book automatically, so that will come naturally. You will be in constant contact with these connections, so you won’t forget them as easily as you would with just collecting a business card and/or saving a phone number to your rolodex.

It’s more personal, and BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS are what it is all about!

Making the connections “in the flesh” will benefit your Online strategies. Content creation acts as duct tape, holding the bond and pyramid together. It also tells the story of the bond being created over time through these networked relationships.

In marketing for the Internet — Offline — never be afraid to think outside of the box. However, make it more than just making connections and using content for Internet strategy. Use it to connect the lives of brands that will literally “stick together” and hold a bond to last a lifetime.

Brands belong to people, and people are the best investment you can ever make in the World. While we all want financial gain, happiness and impactful, positive relationships are more rewarding than anything! Have fun and create an epic story for future generations!

Flash and SEO will NEVER MARRY… They are too wrong for each other!

Flash and SEO will never Marry!

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

As an Internet Marketing Professional, it is my duty to address the common problems of today’s Internet Marketing blunders — or lack thereof, or to inform you of new technologies and practices that will benefit your brand. As of recent, I have been running across quite a bit of things that may seem “old news” and “outdated information.” The problem is, people are still engaging in these common malpractices. Today, we will address Flash!

In the world where HTML5 is beginning to take over web circuits and jQuery is continuously providing us with amazing cross-platform delivery, it is quite interesting to see how many people are still using Flash for primary content delivery. It’s “cool-looking,” yes, but it’s not effective for SEO efforts. As a matter of fact, I have only seen one technology to even try to correct this issue. This technology is Wix, and even they are encouraging the switch to HTML5.

There are constantly being programs created, implementing technologies other than Flash, that mimic the very same features that made us fall in love with Flash to begin with. Few portable and mobile devices actually allow Flash to even work on their platforms. Although, many have become loyal to its usage. Is it a thing of the past? Or, is it simply counteractive to SEO efforts?

Technologies like Wix have created ways to convert content layers into actual objects that can be named and optimized for search engines. The problem with this is cost.

Unless you are willing to pay a specific price to host your domain through Wix and use Wix for your primary domain source, it only benefits Wix and their SEO efforts. It can actually push the “free” service designs ahead of your own professionally designed presences, because the SEO engine that they have created is so powerful.

Other than this, Flash is very nonbeneficial to your web presence. Content is King, as mentioned in other articles and blogs, in providing search engines with a “refresh” for higher ranking over time.

There are ways to get around with non-content optimization. These ways work, but are not enough when in a saturated marketplace. This includes “object” naming (Flash embeds), Meta tags, Footer Tags, and so on.

Flash is embedded on one page and one page only. This means that an engine is not able to optimize your site for delivery to consumers searching for you.

For example, someone is searching “Contact Shorty Produkshins.” If Shorty Produkshins is using Flash and Flash only, the only items that will return are directory listings on other sites. The more traffic these sites get, the higher they are ranked ABOVE Shorty Produkshins’ own official site.

In summary, the use of Flash is okay if it is used for widgets, videos and other objects. But, it is definitely not alright to use it as a primary deliverable for web content. Content is needed in grabbing site rank and “doing numbers.” Internal linking is important for site search and brand-related needs for consumer inquiry.

Text on Flash platforms are NOT able to be shared, therefore do not rank based on organic search terms.

Very bluntly put: In 2013, if you are still using a Flash-based web design, please discontinue it immediately. There are other platform options that will benefit your brand much more and provide a higher return on investments to your endeavors.

Why do I want TRUMPIA in MY LIFE? — Increase sales, awareness and participation

Trumpia Mobile Marketing | OmniMarketing Campaigns

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

It is projected that mobile will be nearly the number one means of Internet connection in 2013. Whether a mobile phone or a tablet device, it is expected that top companies alone will be spending $4.6 Billion dollars in just Mobile Marketing alone.

Previously, it is estimated that top companies, combined with small businesses, have only put .9% of their stock into mobile marketing, while nearly 16% of all 4 Billion global users show conversions through Mobile Marketing. The interesting fact in this equation is that a majority of these people will never and have never seen any form of Mobile Marketing ever, can you imagine if they have?

“Jumping on the bandwagon” now might not be a bad thing — at least before Mobile Marketing becomes overly saturated like MySpace once was.

Truthfully, Internet Marketing will always live on, as long as we are “always connected.” Social Branding will always be around, as long as digital products can be shared and consumed and people feel the need for a personal connection with their most beloved brands. Events will always need to be marketed, as long as people are looking for something to do. So, let’s bring all of these elements together as one into an action plan.

I have recently partnered with Trumpia. It’s not that I am biased to Trumpia. I just love Trumpia. I have been using them for a while now and think they are an excellent choice for any size business or brand. They have high profile products and plans, as well as ones set for low budgets, starting at $25 a month!

Let me interject on the topic of Trumpia before going into detail about this Mobile Marketing.

If you sign up today for a free 30-day trial (which can be cancelled before the month is up), you will get all kinds of benefits from the company that I am sure you will grow to expect. But, the best part is that whatever you are getting, you are getting double that because I know you are going to use the promo code: BRANDSOCIAL. My special little treat to you… NOW, back to the regularly scheduled post.

Why do I support what Trumpia is doing? What do I even like about their platform? Why do I continue using it?

I don’t know if you guys remember SayNow.com. This company was acquired by Google and is no longer alive. Soulja Boy was one to make it famous due to his “Kiss Me Through The Phone” song.

Basically, if you called or text that number, you were automatically made part of the SayNow Network. You could cancel at any time. But, you could expect brand updates via text, voice, e-mail and so on. Picture messages and videos could be traded. Live calls and voice messages could be connected and so much more.

To me, Trumpia is the “grown up” version of SayNow with very beneficial features for businesses (large and small), venues, events, doctors offices, schools, artists, studios, actors, authors and more! There are data collection features that prove very invaluable to a brand. Personalization is present and even reaches consumers on a very personal level!

Short codes are given for simple text campaigns, as well as QR (Quick Response) Codes. There are apps and widgets available to users. Coupons can be sent to brand loyalists, along with e-Card options (for Viral efforts). Appointments can also be set and reminded of through the platform. These are only a few of the reasons I am loving Trumpia in all of its glory!

Can you see now how a business professional could take advantage of this option? Now, let me get back to Mobile Marketing. Mobile Marketing allows for instant access in private. Individuals have been clocked to check their cell phones for text messages every three minutes. They do this out of fear that they have missed a text, double checking before and after gaming, out of boredom, while answering and sending other texts, and in between app usage — including Social Networks!

To be blunt, “hit them where it counts.” That’s the mission! that’s the goal! That’s what will take a brand to conversion!

For a full Mobile Marketing campaign to see success in maturation, there are other things that can be done by a firm or agency, like Shorty Produkshins, that will treat your Mobile Marketing efforts as if they were the only option, knowing that there are indeed other options out there.

Treating Mobile Marketing, as an Internet Marketing campaign, with mobile targets, app creation, mobile advertisements, mobile sites and more are only the beginning. We have to paint the picture for the brand. We have to brand the brand. Branding it socially has just now become more personal and the user is always “DIRECTLY connected” to a brand!

Consumers and brands are always within reach. Constant-but-not-so-spammy contact is available to engage consumers in conversation. Brands can poll the consumers directly and know who THEY are specifically. By doing this, less money can be spent on research, as consumers tend to answer “more truthfully” in private, especially on personal mobile devices!

By knowing what your consumer wants and needs, you are able to cater to them specifically and give them EXACTLY what they desire. You listened to them. They will never forget it. Loyalty, virality and Word of Mouth have now been set into motion!

Event Marketing: Raw TRUTH and how so many are doing THAT wrong!

Event Marketing | How to Promote

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED TO EXAMINER

Thousands of events take place each week. Millions take place over the course of a year. A lot of these events, especially in the smaller arena, are only in attendance by a few people — usually part of the “camp” throwing the event — that are non-paying parties. Venue owners want to make their money and are not affiliated with your event. So, they are becoming even pickier on who they allow to use their venue or who they hire to promote events at that venue.

Ironically, many of these events are awesome! Unfortunately, it usually boils down to how the event was marketed. Awesome events cost money and time for planning and execution. Lack of attendance can lead to lost funds.

This is a borderline topic for me to cover. Normally, I wouldn’t cover an article in the first person or with such a non-traditional writing format. But, this topic is extremely complex and needs to be explained in conversational terms. This is a topic that my infamous “Trade Secret, you will never know” line comes into play. I’m going to try to cover it without giving away my tricks to packing venues. And, I also would like to remind you that you are not paying for consultation at the moment. So, there will be valuable information withheld in the mix.

For those readers who do not know me, I have been involved in the Entertainment Business and Internet Marketing worlds for many years, am extremely experienced and well-studied in the field and practice Social Branding and Event Marketing on a daily basis.

Please understand that this information is based on reality and science. If you sense a bit of sarcasm in the mix, this is due to the tedious nature of each task that must be completed just to get to the next step.

A few important elements of successful Event Marketing are as follows:

  • Anticipation
  • Street Teams
  • Event Sites
  • Support
  • Participation
  • Flyers
  • Gain
  • Time Span
  • Press /Media Release
  • SEO
  • Branding
  • ANTICIPATION

NOW, LET’S BREAK THIS SCIENCE DOWN:

Anticipation

I have this one listed twice, because number ONE you guys aren’t building up enough anticipation for your event — no matter how much anticipation is being built up. You aren’t getting people excited about the event. You aren’t giving them time to take part in creating the buzz through Word of Mouth for your event. The best way to get someone to come to your event is to make someone WANT IT so bad that they are anticipating the date that it comes

To build anticipation, you have to sell your product. Your product is your event. How do you sell it and get people anxious to attend? Make sure you are hitting all of the other elements in successful Event Marketing just right. Once you do that, they almost can’t wait for that event to take place! Think of the anticipation built around video games. Think of the anticipation built around movies. Shoot, we all have waited for almost 10-years for “The Hobbit” to come out! Whether it was actually what we expected or not, we all couldn’t wait to see it! Street thug and nerd, alike, we all were dying to see it! Build this anticipation for your event!

Participation

Whether it’s a site created for the brand, a Twitter account, Facebook page or whatever other venues of marketing you are taking into your hands,

MAKE SURE YOU ENCOURAGE ATTENDEE AND POTENTIAL ATTENDEE PARTICIPATION.

If it is an ongoing event, make sure you have a way to keep people interested in your Online presence, whether through contest or event photos being placed on the page.

In writing this, I am assuming that you are not the person putting on the event. Even if the event is a horrible one, you can still keep people interested in the event or at least ones you are affiliated with by creating interaction between the event and the attendee.

You can keep your audience informed on “what went wrong,” and they will support you even more! But if you are, make sure you actually put on a good show in order to keep people talking! That is one way to drag them back with friends and friends of friends every time.

Participation in the discussion about the event or through media gets people interested, passing media virally and makes them talk about “how cool the event is going to be” to friends, colleagues and coworkers. It helps to keep up the momentum of anticipation and almost makes the attendee feel like they know the brand inside and out. They are a “friend” to the brand. They have also participated so much that they now also feel obligated to make it… NO MATTER WHAT!

Street Teams

Street Teams are a two-way street. People like interaction and personalization. They all want to be a part of something. Include those that you KNOW want to be part of something as part of a team. Allow them special privileges in exchange for doing minor Word of Mouth work for you. Some members would actually be honored to work with you — rewards or not!

Online street teams have endless opportunity. They build Klout in a brand. They build followers and likes, because a recommendation from a REAL FRIEND has been set into motion. Knowing a person on a personal level actually creates a reality that marketing, itself, could never do. Additionally, content will be distributed and redistributed consistently, increasing the SEO results.

Physical street teams are always a plus in doing Event Marketing on the physical level. While your role as an Event Marketer on the Online Platform is separate from that of the physical Promoter, it still may be in your possible interests to get a physical street team started. Allow them to promote the event, and make sure they are promoting the Online Presence of that event at the same time! The deeper you get into these elements, you will understand more!

Flyers

I have mixed emotions about actual “event flyers.” It really depends on who is distributing these, how they are distributing these, when and to whom. Often times, people get a flyer and either drop it (lose it), forget about it or throw it away before the event. This is just wasted paper and effort. Yes, it should still be an effort, though.

Interactive and e-flyers still need to be designed and identical to any physically distributed flyer. They need to be created for Online platforms. This includes event sites, Social Network and application presences, websites, landing pages, releases, MMS/SMS distribution and e-mail distribution to attract potential attendees to the event. These must be detailed about the event and highlighted in a description. One must also surround any e-flyer with SEO opportunity, because they will be appearing in search engines and sites that recommend related searches. You might as well take advantage of this.

Finally, flyers help build a vision of the product… the event. We are able to brand much easier with a flyer. The consumer has a better understanding of crowd and essence before attending. They can also associate this event with your brand and venue choice. They can differentiate it amongst other events that are happening on or around the date of your event.

Stand out from the competition. But, remember, competition also brings out the crowd. So, is there any way that you guys can implement each other into the flyer? People club and bar hop. If you can partner up and trade off flyers, you don’t want 50 different flyers distributed for the same event. Have one official flyer and you will see results!

Event Sites

I hate to say it, but these event sites are the Holy Grail to Event Marketing. While listings alone will not cut it, they work such wonders I am going to have to applaud them with standing ovation.

There are so many event sites out there. Sites like Eventbrite sell tickets directly on the site. Others are just text listing. I love the ones that are 100% customizable and can be built like a Social Media Release.

Sites like Eventful will allow you to literally tag artist and venue profiles to the event. This comes in handy when marketing a party or festival. Many sites even feed into large corporate sites, website widgets and mobile applications.

One thing I love about most event sites is that they help SEO endeavors. Not only is it beneficial to the event — but if done properly, it can benefit the brand, venue, and/or website attached to the event! Backlinking and other possibilities are endless!

Support

In being in the business of Marketing Events, you need to be sure that you have a support team. This is the support of the community, local businesses, business professionals, venues, other promoters, local acts and so on. The relationships that you build can allow you to do things that are almost impossible for an outsider. Barriers to entry are simply invisible.

Through a support team, all parties benefit by helping each other succeed and in creating a promotions web. Shared and Cross Promotion makes the impossible possible.

Expansion into new and target markets through trusted brand affiliates gains new interest in your own brand. Shared crowds ensure that events will be attended, whether attendees stay for the whole event or not, whether they leave and return or return towards the end of the night… THEY WILL ATTEND at some point.

Gain

What do they have to gain from attending this event? Okay, you might not be able to give free drinks or even free products. But, you can work it out where a discount is given for signing up Online for VIP or for the first 50 attendees on the “friendslist” gets will get in free.

How does a contest sound? A sponsorship? A theme?

Maybe you do have pull in getting free drinks or giving out free merchandise. Whatever you can do, make sure you find a way to do it. Not only will these people NOT question why they’re not going to your event, but they will also remember. Look forward to their attendance at your next event!

Timespace

PROMOTIONS TIP OF THE DAY: Give yourself a late start of AT LEAST three weeks to promote your event.

Why? It will take a solid week of hardcore promotion and then a week of personalized promotion, in addition to “Word of Mouth Marketing,” the MOST EFFECTIVE form of marketing to take place.

People like to plan ahead, especially if they work nights and have children (Those that will have the most money to spend, since they are in need of entertainment at ANY cost).

If you are in a major city, business people and tourists like to plan at least 2 weeks ahead and often change their schedule. You need to convince them this is a BIG DEAL! They don’t know your city so marketing is EVERYTHING. Oh, and they are also the ones, who have put money aside to “Get loose” or who are doing it on the company credit card. Think about it.

This was the inspiration for this post. This was a status message that I put on Facebook in transitioning into my Shorty Produkshins Event Marketing Services for discussion on Facebook. I left it untouched, because sometimes it’s these conversational pieces that teach the most in the least amount of words.

Press & Media Releases

Press may seem old fashion to many who question the reliability of the media. I mean, who reads newspapers in 2013, right?!

WRONG!

So many STILL read print. It’s better on the eyes that electronic media. It can be found in almost any location, including in transit on public bus lines, doctors’ offices, diners, libraries and government buildings (to name only a few locations). The reach is limitless and likely to be taken into the electronic realm, because almost every established media firm has an Online Presence available to the audience. Again backlinks, page views, content shares and information awareness is made available to the masses.

Through Press and Social Media Press Release, the press is brought to the attention of your brand and what your brand is doing. A story may be written on the events or products that are being released by your brand, or the brand itself may be the center of media attention.

Whether product or brand, attention will be brought to future events and products through articles and content that never disappear! Trust gained through viewer loyalty will lead to trust in your brand with automatic “want” to be part of your brand, as well.

Again, the possibilities are endless… especially if it is a niche event or event that the community can and will be able to support!

SEO:

We are not going to cover this topic in too much detail here. But, I do want to make this statement: “Take ADVANTAGE of EVERY possibility for SEO, WHENEVER YOU CAN.” Events give you unique opportunities for legit SEO effort where competitors may not necessarily be making use of it.

Events should be treated as products. Products should be treated as brands. Brands represent a company, affiliate, sponsor and so on.

Take advantage of keywords, backlinks, embeds, and so on. That is all that I am going to say. SEO is a science all on its own!

BRANDING:

Websites and Landing Pages
Creating a full website based around the event and content related to that event may be in the greatest interest of an event. The more time planned and given to the event’s arrival, the more the website will benefit the brand.

The more anticipation and virality the content will gain for the event. Information can be given on the event’s entertainment, amenities, causes, pricing, schedule, directions and ticketing. Public forum can be linked to these websites, as well. This will build attendee participation in anticipation of the event.

Single page websites and landing pages are also great for bringing notice to the brand, collecting attendee data for this and future events, to redirect traffic around web presences and to take advantage of two way SEO options. This topic will not be elaborated upon. But, I am sure you have caught on already.

Applications and Widgets
Participation, interaction, virality, Word of Mouth, engagement, and on and on and on. This is self-explanatory. You have read my blogs on Mobile Marketing and on Social Media, I am sure. If you haven’t, you should.

Incorporating these elements into your Event Marketing campaign is of the best interest of your brand, especially if you can incorporate GPS capabilities into the applications being created. Location-based information can engage participants in interactivity during the event and to locals who have not yet decided if they would like to attend the event but are nearby.

Creating “the life of the party” where everyone can be part of it is so important in encouraging others to join in and those participating to continue having fun, because they are, indeed, having fun together and encouraging local audiences to join in the fun.

If it is before the event, they will encourage “the hype” surrounding the event. If it is post-event, they will rub it in the faces of NON-attendees of how much fun that was had. In the future, non-attendees will be more likely to participate.

The goal of applications and widgets that appear cross-platform is to keep audiences captivated in the upcoming event, feed them with information and updates surrounding the event and to keep them reminded of the event.

We don’t want them to forget the event is happening and when it is happening. There is nothing worse than getting people interested in the event and then they miss it because they mix up the date and time of this event. Reminders may even be set to keep user participation ensured.

Blogs
Blogs work similar to web presences, sites and landing pages. They also function with the capabilities of adding widgets and other content to the body of each post. Their focus will be to support the event and all elements related to the event.

If there will be entertainment at the event, articles about the entertainment may take place. This could include press releases, news, biographies, video, picture content, audio and more.

Similarly, information related to the venue and other focal points of this event may be included. Blogs are frequently added into application and website feeds, while being shared across Social Media platforms around the net!

Event Invites
I am going to be very honest here. As the trend continues, event invites are more often becoming ignored. While one should always create one and try to get users to participate in this feature, please do not count on it.

There are many of us who ignore and even block this feature from ever coming into our awareness. While I promote events, I admit to rarely opening an event invite.

The truth is, many people misuse this platform for reasons other than for promoting events. They even use it too frequently. It almost becomes SPAM and often is the reason that people will not even check their notifications on platforms like Facebook.

On the contrary, I see these event invites work often. Depending on the frequency of the poster and the subject of interest, I have seen participation in these events where users share cross-platform, post content about and to, embed and event connect them to their iCal and Google Calendars, viewable on the wallpaper or widgets of their mobile devices! So, never leave event invites out as an option, but never depend on them as your only option.

In closing this topic off with what little I am willing to share in blog form, I would like to remind you that data collection is key in providing your audiences with the form of marketing that works best for THEM.

In allowing user form submissions, one will be able to survey the best form of marketing for a specific user or to survey the overall reach of viewer trends as related to your brands initiative. While immediate response would be best for this event, be reminded that it will benefit future events to already have this information available.

Some people do not check their Facebook every day but check their text messages every three minutes. Some people don’t even have text capabilities on their mobile device but live on Twitter. There are some who shiver at the thought of technology and you will never know exist until you see them at an event that was broadcasted through the local newspaper. So, please make sure to include all press, Online and Offline in your marketing scope.

Last but not least, enjoy the event that you have promoted. Mingle with your audiences. Find out how they found out about your event. You just may be shocked. Get to know your audiences, and find out your future events will do nothing but ROCK!
