Growing up in a household where his father listened to primarily jazz music, it is no surprise that Alex Clare, a multi-platinum artist from London, England, was drawn so deeply into the smooth sounds of blues and soul music. He learned to play the trumpet and drums, keeping with the rhythmic melodies and beats that he grew up to love. That love led him to the discovery of drum’n’bass and U.K. garage music.
Heading into adulthood and just like jazz, his love for music progressed, awakening the versatility within his own soul. He started to write original material and played the drums. Eventually, he created a demo, which lead him to earn a deal from Island Music in the U.K.
Diplo and Switch became the producers that would contribute to his first album, The Lateness of the Hour. The World was introduced to this legend-in-the-making as of July 2011. His first album earned him over 5 million last year alone!
An artist with intrigue, a publicist for Alex Clare gave AXS some insight on just what Clare has going on right now.
Just released, Clare’s second album, Three Hearts is anticipated to do just as well …if not better! After receiving overwhelming success during this last US tour, which was sold out at venues across the country, his team decided to return in November to kick off a tour that will last the duration of 27 nights and includes shows in major cities across the United States.
This album was co-produced by Dan Wilson — who is known for his work with Adele and Taylor Swift, Antony Genn and Martin Slattery of The Hours, Steve Booker — known for his work with John Newman, and Ben Hudson, who has worked with Kanye West. With a team like that, what can go wrong?
To record this album, he frequented studios in both Los Angeles and London. This album includes 13 songs, including two singles: “Never Let You Go” and “War Rages On.” These two songs aren’t even a hint of the brilliance this entire album brings.
Alex Clare is an amazing songwriter, who has recently been awarded an ASCAP PRS for Music Writer of the Year Award during the Society’s 34th Annual Awards on October 8. Because of this, it is predicted that he will continue selling out tours in the US and Europe. high chart positions and perhaps more number on Platinum-certified singles like he received in Germany.
