Florida businesses promote ‘independent’ through annual Pittsburgh cause

Orlando and Pittsburgh business join hands for a Toys-for-Tots Charity Event

SweetNote Entertainment, a Production Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, presents an annual Rock’N’Soul Christmas Show that brings regional musicians, fans and area businesses together to raise toys and donations on behalf of the Toys for Tots Foundation to give to children during the holiday season. Each year, SweetNote collaborates with local businesses and corporations to make sure that everyone involved goes home “just a little bit happier.”

Products and services are donated to the company and given away during raffles and to bands, who perform during this charitable event. According to B. Michael Smith, owner of SweetNote Entertainment and Coordinator for this event, set for December 14, 2014, “The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Our organization is dedicated to the process of making that happen, but we need your help (speaking to artists and businesses all over the United States).”

This year, two Florida-based companies are getting involved in SweetNotes Rock’N’Soul cause — Playas Mob Radio and Shorty Produkshins.

Playas Mob Radio, a weekly radio show that is based in Fort Pierce, broadcasts out of 6 FM stations around the State of Florida and to an International fan-base of Online listeners. Playas Mob Radio, dedicated to breaking Independent Artists, Businesses and Causes, will be presenting one winning band or business with a promotional radio spot during a high profile show to talk about their brand’s history and any upcoming releases.

If it is a band that wins this promo spot, they will also have their latest radio-edited release placed into regular rotation during The Playas Mob Radio Show on WJFP FM. The show will be live on-air and will also be archived for promotional usage for the brand in both Online and Offline arenas.

Shorty Produkshins, an Orlando-based Online Promotions Company specializing in Social Branding and Event Marketing and also affiliated with Playas Mob Radio, will be giving away a few items to encourage entrepreneurship, musicianship and, of course, giving during the holiday season and into the new year.

A spokesperson for Shorty Produkshins states that “It is our way of giving back, while helping artists and brands find awareness in the new year. We initially were giving away one graphic art in the form of a digital flyer to one winner to help boost their visibility, professionally and with intrigue, and we still are. However, we realized the need brands have in establishing credibility and awareness that lasts the lifetime of their career. So, we decided that we could write articles, as well, for five brands or bands who really deserve it — which would be more beneficial to them than a graphic design that serves the purpose of one project or announcement. These services will also really benefit their Internet Marketing and SEO efforts.”

They have donated one graphic design and five written articles to promote independent progress in the Pittsburgh Area.

With December 14, just two days away, we can only imagine the magic that the night will behold. Artists, businesses and audiences at Pittsburgh’s Sing Sing venue at the Waterfront can expect a night of entertainment, holiday spirit and motivation to usher them into 2015. Performing at this event, SweetNotes own Lyndsey Smith and Soul Distribution will take the spotlight alongside acts such as Kinetic, Sun Hound, Hakim Rasheed, Mike Why, Ine, Gene Stovall, Devan Rue and Brian Woods. With a roster like this, this is definitely a night to remember!

Women on the Edge: Using Social Media for the pursuit of passion in womanhood.

Women on the Edge: Using Social Media for the pursuit of passion in womanhood.

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

In the past year, we have seen a viral uprising in how conferences and seminars are done. While we would like to attend actual physical conferences for networking possibilities and to “play with” new technologies, it isn’t always simple to do so with busy schedules, travel prices, and family situations that demand our attention elsewhere.

Previously, businesses and companies held private webinars and meetings Online. But, now, it has become a more “mainstream” thing to do. More and more webinars, live events and web conferences are taking place on an International level. Some of these take place simultaneously with physical events at various locations around the World.

As like all professions, there is a niche audience that needs to be catered to. Niche audiences demand specific things. They seek something genuine, unique, something that they are unable to find elsewhere. They often seek empowerment, support, encouragement, ideals, brainstorming, training and other valuable resources from like-minded individuals that know exactly what one is going through, feeling, thinking and need

Yesterday, October 14, 2013, was the first day of “Women on the Edge (of Greatness!).” It is a virtual conference that is taking place in the second half of October.

From October 14 until October 31, 2013, a series “inspirational and practical Online workshops, Keynotes and other sessions” will take place to encourage women to get started on “BIG goals like starting a business, running your first triathlon or writing a book.” The series physically takes place in Orlando, FL, but registration and attendance takes place Online.

While these sessions will take place and stream live, attendees are welcome to watch them at their convenience through recorded video of these sessions. This means that WOE has the opportunity of going viral and helping women all over the World for years to come. The only thing holding it back at the moment is that registration is $129.

The World will be unable to access these videos without being an attendee. After all, very valuable information will be given at these events.

The event kicked off with speaker, Jody Urguhart, who presented “The Nerve to Serve, Say Hello to Humor & Goodbye to Burnout!” “Jody is passionate about spreading the message of the importance of fun at work. Jody is a motivational keynote speaker at over 50 organizations and associations every year, and is a top motivational keynote speaker,” states WOE in a recent press release.

“Jody’s trademark is to deliver very funny motivational speeches; humor is a key part of her audience connection… Her mission is to help motivate people to derive more meaning, fun and satisfaction from their work.”

The conference is presented by Professional Edge, a company dedicated to providing clientele with the ability to operate business day-to-day with quality Marketing needs at their fingertips. It’s safe to say that Women of the Edge are in good hands with workshops and seminars dedicated to Networking, trial & error approaches to Business through Experimentation, Entrepreneurship and steps to creating a Startup, Social Media, pursuing of dreams, “Dos and Dont’s of Managing a Non Profit,” supporting other business women, Home-based Businesses, Inspiration and getting to know yourself. They also allow networking to take place through a chat session after each seminar!

With the need to create new jobs in a lessening economy, this is the perfect approach to enabling women who do not know where to start with the ability to do so. Not only can they become familiar with who they are, what they want and their passions, but they can also learn to envision a reality and make it such. They will learn how to take that vision, turn it into a reality and then keep it functioning at a healthy level.

Of course, this conference is a way to usher in new potential clients for Professional Edge. But, this might be something that Professional Edge may consider doing on a more regular basis. These tools and resources are very valuable to the woman in the marketplace.

Because the speakers are mostly women, it is important to note that their approach comes from the experience of working in a male-dominated world and the nightmares that come from such. Knowing how to handle situations and barriers of entry is just what many young women need everywhere!

Power of Viral: Rachel Jeantel takes the stand

Rachel Jeantel, Social Media, Trayvon Martin, Sanford, Florida, Viral, Conversation, Trends, Facebook

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

The Power of Viral strikes yet again! Many people still doubt the effect of Internet Marketing and Social for businesses and brands. NEVER underestimate the Power of Viral!

If you have been scrolling Facebook for these last two days, you have probably have witnessed a feed full of content surrounding the George Zimmerman case. Most of these statuses have responded to the witness testimony of Rachel Jeantel, the friend of Trayvon Martin who witnessed the whole situation leading up to his murder via telephone call.

Through all the comments and remarks about her speech, appearance and action, as being questioned by George Zimmerman’s defense attorney, you also see people asking where they can also tune-in to witness the trial, themselves.

Here, you see the Power of Viral take effect, as people are directed to multiple streaming outlets via the Internet and/or local television stations. While people are dissecting this young girl’s character, no matter how much older she looks than she truly is, these web outlets are receiving new traffic and converting awareness to long-term consumers (provided their content is “sticky”) across the United States.

For the past few days, I have witnessed solely Orlando residents speaking about the case and making comments about the “star witness.” Today, I am watching friends in California, Pittsburgh, New York — and even London — speaking about the case and inquiring where to find it Online so that they can join in this “what-has-now-become-social” event. It’s interesting how widespread the case has become, and even more, the content of it.

Together, we are watching the live streaming trial. Many of us may never be watching anything simultaneously again (other than sports)! However, we all will continue to share in the conversation in real-time based on what we are witnessing.

Many people are at work at the moment, and they still watch via mobile or Internet. Many cannot watch it now, but they will follow through to the websites, suggested by friends, for archived streams. Referrals are the most trusted form of Brand Awareness and what leads to effective Viral Marketing. Referrals by friends and family members are trusted over referrals by a company that stands to “make a buck or two” over it.

Orlando is known for some of the most intense cases. Unfortunately, the “in-demand” material is highly sought after, and people are critically watching and speaking. Can the Power of Viral damage the “City of Orlando” brand through this, or can it show the world that “If you mess up in Orlando, you shall be dealt with?”

Does content like this continue to heighten racial tension? Maybe it helps detract it a bit. Why? Because while there are some racists joining into the conversation, Social Conversation can “combat negative reactions.”

People can speak on matters of the heart and society. Stereotypes can be broken, leaving stereotyped remarks left to “look stupid.” While many are downplaying the character of this young girl, it gives them the “go ahead” to speak freely about a stereotypical character that continues to portray a mainstream “ideal” of certain groups of people. Others grouped in this category are proving these ideals wrong! So, while her character has brought in traffic to these streams and opened a negative conversation, positive results may take place from it within our world.

As I write this article and listen to the live feed, I hear a segment about Social Media by one of WFTV Orlando’s Legal Analysts, Bill Sheaffer (who is also an Attorney), speak about Social Media. I am unable to play back the direct quote. So, I apologize if it isn’t an exact quote and/or a bit out of order, but he states (and I think it is important to add):

“Social Media is always there. It’s a new world… with an emphasis on the importance of Social Media… Going back to the Casey Anthony case… her home computer was a vital piece of evidence in the case with her daughter. Twitter wasn’t back then what it is now, recording every moment of our daily lives. Even when deleted, it is always there. You can’t just scrub it away…”

And, this content always stands the chance of becoming viral in our World, just as it has for Rachel Jeantel.

Marketing for Change: Only 1-in-3 parents read to their children, 8 and under

In a world where technology is so evolved that everything is possible, why are our children becoming more corrupted, lacking morals, becoming more spoiled, lacking conscious, etc.? Does it have to do with how we are raising them? Does it have to do with the minimum bonding time we are spending with them and in being the first teachers in their life? A new survey reports that “only one-in-three parents read bedtime stories at night…Children are more likely to spend time with TV or Video Games than books.”

And, here lies the problem.

Lack of bonding and discipline can lead to an increase in independence, but this increase can be harmful to a child if no direction is given. How are we showing our children we love them? How are we influencing their decisions?

We get mad that they emulate what is seen on television, but we are not filling idle minds with wholesome data or swaying their mindsets in the way that we should. If we aren’t that positive role model in their life, we can’t be upset when “the entertainment” keeps them fulfilled and becomes their new “favorite person.” We can’t be upset when our child comes home with dissatisfactory results on their report cards.

When we read, children look at pictures (if snuggled next to you). Chances are, they will follow the words along with you… whether they know what the words spell out or not.

When they see words in repetition, they eventually learn the word “on sight,” and this readies them to learn more complex words. This is a science that programs like “My Baby Can Read” have proven to us time and time again. This is also something that can’t be done one-on-one in the classroom, especially where large classes exist.

As a matter of fact, the age group of “8-years-old and under” are at the highest risk. “Children who don’t read well by the end of third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school than proficient readers,” according to a report by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Casey Foundation.

Have we become too dependent on the programming our television networks have created to “educate” kids? Let us not forget that subliminal messaging is also often times placed in program messaging.

Innocent realities may also place “thoughts” into the mind of children. For example, an educational program called “IQ Kids” when heard without visuals, or when watched at “half span” attention sounds like it is clearly saying “I kill kids.” If your child can’t read, what message do they perceive? Do you think they will want to learn from these people, no matter how many awards they have won?

In the Online survey conducted by Macy’s, Reading is Fundamental and Harris Interactive, 33% of 1000 parents report nightly reading to their children. Through ten years of partnership, Macy’s and RIF find it even more important to deliver their 10 millionth book to children across the country. “Bedtime stories build the foundation for future achievement.

For a decade, Macy’s and RIF have worked together to get books and literacy resources to children in need, giving children and parents tools they need to dream big,” said Carol H. Rasco, president and CEO of Reading Is Fundamental. “While much news in this survey is encouraging, there is more work to be done – work that Be Book Smart and our partnership with Macy’s will help make possible.”

We must remember that this age group is that of our future society, our future decision-makers. If we aren’t teaching them correctly, who will? The television that has the sole purpose of selling advertising and merchandising?

Macy’s understands this and, since 2004, have donated over $25.8 million to RIF through customer-supported fundraising campaigns, in-store events and volunteer activities. They continue this mission with a campaign that runs Today (June 21) throughout until July 21, 2013, in the goal of donating the 10 millionth book to a child in need.

The campaign takes place Online and in stores across the country. The correlating Online campaign includes a Facebook Sweepstakes, and have included this statement in a recent Press Release:

“As part of the Be Book Smart campaign, Macy’s and RIF will host a sweepstakes on Facebook to encourage supporters to share information about the campaign and post images of quotes from favorite authors to their personal timelines via a Facebook app. Each week, one winner will be awarded a $500 Macy’s gift card. For official rules and to enter the sweepstakes, visit facebook.com/macys or rif.org/sweeps. No purchase necessary to enter or win a prize.”

Will “Beamz by Flo Rida” be music to our ears?

Will "Beamz by Flo Rida" be music to our ears?

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED TO EXAMINER

Beamz Interactive has just announced a “Milestone Endorsement” and Licensing Deal with Rapper, Flo Rida, and this could be music to our ears and a very cool new experience for event goers and music enthusiasts everywhere — not just in Hip Hop and Rap Music!

Beamz Interactive, Inc. is an emerging, yet state-of-the-art company with something unique to offer those who love new ways of creating and presenting music to audiences on a regular basis. Beamz, specialized laser-controlled music technology, works in the fashion of traditional MIDI… only more advanced!

This machine is used by triggering specific commands with actual laser beams. As a matter of fact, technology by Beamz may very well replace modern DJ equipment and even instruments used by bands, especially during performance periods. The cool thing is that music can simply be played for enjoyment purposes, although the device is configured to allow for Advanced and Interactive Music Creation techniques.

Separate from “old school” MIDI technology, Beamz is Interactive. More on the product capabilities will be demonstrated through product release and performance of the new consumer product line, “Beamz by Flo Rida.” Beamz is known for prosumer editions of previous technologies, similar but unlike this new product line.

In a recent press release by Beamz and D3M Licensing Group, a Global Licensing Agent for Flo Rida, Flo Rida made a statement on the new product line: “With Beamz, everyone will be able to create and play music, not just listen to it. It’s hard to describe the feeling of making music on-the-fly with Beamz for the first time. It’s easy enough for anyone to play within minutes, yet sophisticated enough for artists and DJs to use on stage. I’ve been a follower of the Beamz product ever since I first got my hands on it, and I’m looking forward to working with Beamz to develop the ‘Beamz by Flo Rida’ product line.”

In the meantime, Beamz is preparing for a massive takeover through this deal and ready to take force, especially through Digital Marketing means! To reach and encourage a “new generation of music enthusiasts and Flo Rida fans,” everything must be customized to fit their needs.

Beamz will work closely with Flo Rida to develop the new product line. From there, a series of commercials will be filmed and distributed via television and Social Media outlets. It is expected that viral distribution of these commercials would attract the attention of much of his fanbase and those interested in the product’s capabilities.

In the matters of Mobile Distribution, Flo Rida is set to be featured in the software application of Beamz technology for iPhone, iPad and Windows 8 devices. This software will include a library of Flo Rida’s very own music catalog and be converted into an Interactive format. Through Word of Mouth means and sharing capabilities, THIS is expected to attract users based on the usage of specific mobile devices and viral measures. Flo Rida fans may be further attracted to the signatured “Special Limited Edition Chrome” version of this product.

Due for furthered announcement in the second half of the 2013-year, in-depth details on the product will be released prior to final launch dates for the Beamz by Flo Rida devices and software.

Teasers are expected to hint to users via Social Media on the upcoming product in planting suspense and anticipation for the product’s commencement into markets all over! Currently, commercials are being slated to begin airing as of the third quarter in 2013 on select Television and Internet Distribution Channels.

On a personal note: I am excited about this new product and release. I can only imagine how live shows and performances will begin to evolve with the addition of this product into markets on a Global level. Aside from the Emulator, a see-through touchscreen “DJ Glass,” I would think this would bring a difference to the World of Electronic Music and anyone that uses a DJ that no longer has a traditional turntable setup.

It will bring art and performance back into the craft of DJing. I recently attended an event that a well-known-rapper-turned-DJ performed at and was very disappointed by witnessing two guys simply sitting on stage, at a desk, playing music for us. The crowd of many became a crowd of almost no one, quickly!

If Beamz were to have Flo Rida implement usage of their new product into his shows and live events prior to any media presentation, wonders could be worked for the brand. The element of curiosity will take over, and the “ohhhhhhh” factor will become even more sufficient upon media release.

Additionally, the feeling of personalization and privilege will lead to Brand Loyalty and Word of Mouth Marketing successes through allowing potential consumers to tell the Brand Story to their immediate friends and family via cell phone photo and video contributions to Social Media and Networks.

Search Engine Optimization… The Neverending Story.

Shorty Produkshins IS Internet Marketing Orlando | Jessica N. Abraham

PREVIOUS PUBLISHED ON EXAMINER

Search Engine Optimization is an ongoing effort… Point. Blank. Period. There are some experts out there speaking false information into the Business World on how it “doesn’t matter how high you rank in Google” and other search engines, most of your focus should be on actual marketing itself.

Are they serious?!

Those who know Internet Marketing like the back of their own hand know that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is one of the most important elements of marketing. As a matter of fact, it is the reason that other forms of marketing even exist and continue to strive!

Who says appearing on the first few pages, and especially the first few results, of a Search Engine do not help a brand perform at its maximum potential? Who says it doesn’t help a brand find awareness, especially when local area search takes place? If SEO isn’t done properly, all Social Branding and Media Marketing efforts can pretty much find themselves flushed down the toilet!

SEO is not just naming a few keywords or tagging a few items. It’s more than just descriptions and backlinks. In today’s day and age, related search results are almost a standard, photo matches for similar results are sure to return and content is King! Not only is it King, but it is more valuable than any keyword you place on your page! And, naming it correctly is even more important. Using generic names for photos and audio will just hinder efforts.

In today’s World of Search, more and more businesses and brand are finding themselves working with individuals and firms that have mastered Search Engine Optimization as a skill and/or Internet Marketing as a whole. So if everyone is doing it right, how exactly does your brand stand out in the crowd?

It is true, most people are learning that if they aren’t doing it right, they might as well “close up shop” in E-commerce and other related industries, because they won’t make sales. So, they put in a few marketing dollars and integrate SEO into their efforts. The problem is, they don’t realize that SEO is an ongoing effort — a never-ending story!

Most people are simply hiring professionals or doing it themselves to get the job only half done. They hire someone to optimize their site, or they create “Meta Tags” and call it quits! The goal of SEO is to stay on top amongst competitors, affiliates and even those in the same industry as yourself, who may not even be a competitor!

So, we name and detail Meta Tags. We include optimized copy for the page. We name all content and create “Alt Tags.” We backlink and create internal links, amongst every other element of SEO (and there are many).

The thing is this: No matter how much optimization we do for a site, it is NEVER enough! It is also to be noted that when you hire someone to optimize your site, this is different from hiring someone to handle all of your SEO across platforms.

The difference is plain and simple. Newer sites and newer optimization by competitors will begin to be tracked. Algorithms are programmed to realize some content will become outdated. Such is the case with news stories. There will always be a new shooting and the one that just took place will become old news, no matter how often that story is searched out.

So, how do we combat this? Again… ONGOING SEO!

Refreshing and updating pages, adding to and making changes, etc. Our websites aren’t the only thing that needs continuous updating, so do our Social Media outlets and social networks in which are attached to our sites.

Why? Link Wheels and Pyramids end up pinging our sites and connecting the content indirectly.

Every click is a vote, every impression is a bump up! The more content, the better. The more relevant the content, much better. The more linking and embedding of content… even better! And one must do this on a monthly, weekly and even daily basis, or they should plan on falling behind.

There are arguments that Organic Search results, traffic sent to your page based upon the text of your coding, are good enough. Okay, then why are these same people still “wasting” money on SEM (Search Engine Marketing) if they think that Organic Search is enough? Don’t let these people fool you. It is their goal to hold up your efforts so they, themselves, or clients can get ahead. It’s misinformation at its best.

Organic Search is important. But, keeping information and content new and interesting is even more important. After all, repeat traffic yields new traffic through Viral and Word of Mouth means. Those are the two hardest forms of marketing to achieve, because you can’t just make someone want to tell another person about your brand or site. They have to want to do it. And if they are bored or losing interest in what you have to offer, they won’t become excited enough to share it with those who take their opinions seriously.

Because SEO is an ongoing effort and others are slowly catching on, links and content are always changing out. Old ones are even being removed. Who is to say that all of those backlinks you just committed to will even be valid or existent in a few months?

Continuous backlinking is important. After all, it is a means for Brand Awareness. Awareness brings Interest. Interest encourages Influence. Influence equates to Loyalty. And, Loyalty endures Tenure.

For the sake of your brand’s survival, please engage in Ongoing SEO Activity! Be kind to your brand, and it will literally pay you back!
